"1783- A Whaling ship wrecked on the coast, from which one lad was saved-Daniel Keen, aged 17. The lad stayed in Haweside, from where, on October 8th, 1756, he married Sussanah Rigby, and became father to a numerous family, whose descendants in Southport now form a large section of the population."
