      The evidence so far:

      Birth Certificates:

      1. Sophia Harriet Drake, b 16/Mar/1838, d/o James Drake, mariner & Hannah (formerly Andrews), 26 Georges St, Liverpool

Baptisms (all at St Peter's Liverpool)

      2. Sophia Harriet, 29/Mar/1838 d/o Robert Henry & Alethea Drake, mariner, Georges St (Bishop's Transcript on Ancestry)

      3. Sophia Harriet, 01/Apr/1838 d/o James & Harriet Drake, mariner, Georges St (Bishop's Transcript on Ancestry)

      4. Sophia Harriet, 20/Dec/1840 d/o James & Elizabeth Drake, surgeon, Crop Hall St (Church register on Ancestry)

      Death Certificates:

5 Sophia Harriet Drake 07/Jan/1839, d/o James Drake, mariner, 10m, informant Hannah Drake, mother, Georges St

6 Sophia Harriet Drake 22/May/1843, d/o Robert Drake, mariner, 2yr5m, informant Alathea Dickinson, mother, Cartwright Place [nb Alathea Andrews Drake remarried to Robert Dickinson 1842]

      Marriage Registers

      7. 27/Feb/1834 at St Michael's Liverpool, James Drake, bachelor & mariner & Hannah Nathan spinster (in 1845 Hannah Drake/Nathan remarried to a William Rees and names her father as David Nathan)

I suspect 7 is probably a red herring (not inconceivable that a lot of mariners named Drake would be found in Liverpool!)

I have all the birth & death certificates I can find

Are 1 and 3 the same person? mother's name different but address is ok (names confused when writing up register?)

Are the Drake's related? Are the Andrews related? Georges Street is common link for 2 of the families

The death certificate 6 clearly matches the age of baptism 4 !!!???

Alitha does have an older sister Hannah (born c1809), who is unaccounted for. But there is also a younger sister Anna (b1823). In Suffolk would they have had those two names running together?

Apart from Alethea/Alathea/Alicia with 6 month Sophia I cannot find any of the parties in 1841, or 1851 (or later). We know Robert Henry Drake died in 1838 so cannot be the father of the child who died in 1843 - probably the only certainty in this whole tale!
